On September 27, the PCM9GA provided its second salute to the Ryder Cup during the month of September, when it held an alternate shot tournament on the Palms Course at Tuscany Falls. Earlier in the month, a two-man best-ball event was held at Eagle’s Nest; this alternate shot event paired A/D and B/C flighted players. While the course wasn’t Le Golf Nationale, in Paris, it was a test of the desert elements at their finest. Strategic shot selection and critical putts were the highlight of the day.
Winners of the Two-Man Alternate Shot Tourney wereas followed:
A/D Pairings: 1st Place, Adjusted Score 35, Joe Oliver and Erv Stein; 2nd Place, Adjusted Score 38.30, Greg Ray and Stan Fuller; 3rd Place, Adjusted Score 38.37, Rich McCurdy and Jed Weisman.
B/C Pairings: 1st Place, Adjusted Score 39.83, John Craven and Don Burrows; 2nd Place, Adjusted Score 39.85, Rob Risden and Ted Hallenbeck; 3rd Place, Adjusted Score 40.61, Tom Johnson and Dave Kennedy.
