Consider membership in our organization! PCM9GA was informally started in 2003 by a group of golfers who were not particularly interested in strict competition and only wanted to regularly play nine holes. The association became a reality in 2004 with a Constitution and Bylaws and membership in the Arizona Golf Association.
The original and continuing mission, modified somewhat by the growing numbers and different individual desires of members, which may or may not set us apart from other groups, is to provide a golfing environment that values conviviality and friendship as highly as golf expertise and competition.
We accept all male PebbleCreek residents (including renters) who wish to join, regardless of handicap level, golf experience or physical disability/hardship. It is an excellent resource for new PebbleCreek residents looking to meet other folks, form future golf relationships or are just starting to learn how to play, have disabilities or just want to play nine holes regularly.
The goal is to play golf within the established rules of golf, have a comfortable round, then socialize with and get to know your partners. All foursomes are formed on a random selection basis to ensure diversity even for tournaments where handicaps require more regimentation.
The dues are $50 a year with a reduced rate for joining after mid-July. They pay for Arizona Golf Association membership and the use of their electronic handicap system as well as for prizes at all tournaments and to support major social events (spring and winter banquets).
We now have 350 members. We play every Thursday all year round alternating among the five 9-hole PebbleCreek courses (soon to be six!). In winter we play at 1:30 p.m. and in summer at 7:30 a.m. We have plenty of competitive opportunities with two local tournaments each month as well as special tournaments throughout the year including a Member Guest Tournament and mixers with other PebbleCreek associations and Sun City organizations.
In October during PebbleCreek overseeding we play at several off-site venues which provide for 18 holes of golf and lunch. This year we will be at Falcon Dunes (Luke AFB), Coyote Lakes Golf Club, Hillcrest Golf Club and Sun City Country Club (guests welcome).
