While many of our snowbird PCM9GA golfers remained out and about and widely dispersed to avoid the dog days of our searing Arizona summer heat, a quite large group of 64 of our avid members teed off at the front nine of our Eagle’s Nest Course, this time utilizing still one more interesting two low net tournament format.
All 14 foursome teams drove all their individual balls for the entire nine hole event and for each hole, the two low net team member scores were utilized to comprise the total team score with the notable exception of the PAR 3 holes in which only one team member’s low gross score was counted. As always, the low net scores were based, of course, on the prevailing handicaps of individual team members which would get anywhere from zero Pops or stroke credit to a maximum of three stroke credits based upon the challenge rating of each hole. The result quite often is that a high handicap golfer who may get real lucky and wind up with a PAR on a PAR 3 hole will be credited with a virtual hole in one for that hole which likely will be a tremendous ego builder. By the way, to assure an even competitive playing field, the foursome teams were paired up as ABCD golfers with the higher handicap D golfers given the option of teeing off on the forward (red) tees.
Congratulations to the winning foursome team consisting of Paul Zuckerbrow, Rob Risden, Marty Dubbs and Lou Cerri that came in with a remarkably impressive net 52. The second and third place teams came in with identically impressive net 57 scores and tie breaking rules were invoked to determine the second and third-place winners. A summary of all winners were as follows:
Place Score Team Members
1 52 Paul Zuckerbrow, Rob Risden, Marty Dubbs, Lou Cerri
2 57 Richard Schmidt, Gary Peyton, Don Burrows, Ken Gangl
3 57 Ray Clements, Larry Gleason, Al Lowe, Tom Bashwiner
