A total of 52 always enthused non-snowbird PCM9GA golfers teed off on a typically warm and humid morning on the back nine of Eagle’s Nest in a once again innovative tournament format variation which was a Two Low Gross Score Shamble.
As it turns out, our PCM9GA golfers will never be subjected to boring and repetitive tournament formats and this event was no exception since this time, the two low gross scores of each team were utilized to determine the net team score for eight out of nine holes. The only notable exception of this scoring was for hole 17, a PAR 3 hole in that the gross aggregate score for all team members were added to the total for the other eight holes. For this event, while all team members drove their own individual ball for all holes, the higher handicap golfers were allowed to tee off from the red tees for all holes.
Hats off to the first place foursome team comprised of Mike D’Onofrio, Bruce Hulbert, Frank Hylton and Frank Rogers which came in first with an excellent gross team store of 77. As always, the foursome teams are incredibly well matched and no surprise at all that both the second and third place foursomes finished up with identical gross team scores of 79 and tie-breaking rules were invoked to determine the winners. A summary of the winning teams results are as follows:
Place Score Team Members
1 77 Mike D’Onofrio, Bruce Hulbert, Frank Hylton, Frank Rogers
2 79 Doug Wainwright, Greg McKenzie, Clay Troxell, Bob Caldwell
3 79 Manny Maciel, Rob Risden, Chris Jeans, Erv Stein
Closest to Pin Winners Gene Lindsey, Bob Caldwell
