In celebration of the first Tuesday play after overseeding, PCLGA members played in a “Spooktacular” Goofy Golf Day Scramble on Oct. 29 at Eagle’s Nest.

“Spooky Chairs”, Judy Hauser and Deb Smedley planned the super fun event with tricks or treats on every hole. We are not talking about having Godiva chocolates for treats or empty candy wrappers for tricks. The ladies planned nine holes of treats and nine holes of tricks.

An example of a treat hole was being able to tee off from the 150 Marker on a Par 5; rather than teeing off from our regular tees. An example of a trick hole was having to wear oven mitts on both hands while putting. Judy and Deb came up with 18 fun ideas so that each hole had a different game intermixed with the Scramble format we were playing.

Many players were in the Halloween spirit and wore costumes. Much creativity was shown and when the gals wore their costumes while playing golf; it created a “Spooktacular” sight.

The three judges; Judy Layton, Barbara Patrow, and Linda Sweet; had a difficult time choosing the Best Costume for the contest. There were so many great ones to pick a winner from. But the five finalists were: Ellen Enright (Cub’s Fan), Nancy Kyle (1949 Prom Queen), Liz Mitchell (Shrek), Sue White (Bumble Bee), and Deb Smedley (Progressive Flo). The winner was Nancy Kyle and she won a $25 PebbleCreek Gift Card.

Winnings for the Scramble were paid out to four places in each flight. The first place teams in each flight are as follows:

Flight 1: Teresa Christianson, Denise Johnson, Liz Mitchell, Cathryn Weaver.

Flight 2: Becky Rio, Cathy Schafer, Chris Urbatchka, Cheryl Skummer.

Flight 3: Valerie Bobigian, Suzy Burwick, Pat Lohmiller, Judi Floyd.

Flight 4: Linda Glazar, Lynn Matousek, Jan Peterson.

Congratulations to all the winners in each flight!

Many thanks to Judy and Deb for all their work in planning this outstanding event and to all the participants who enjoyed playing a “Spooktacular” Goofy Day of Golf.
