The second tournament of the Ladies Arizona Summer Survivor Invitational (LASSI) was played at Copper Canyon Golf Club at Sun City Festival on July 6. There were 56 two-person teams contending for a prize playing a Best Ball format. The competition was played on the Vista and Lakes course from the jade tees.
The eight teams competing from PebbleCreek were Mary Falso and Peggy Steffan, Ellen Enright and Donnie Meyers, Sally Babbitt and Chanca Morrell, Kathi Curtis and Donna Havener, Teresa Christensen and Nancy Moore, Vicki McLaughlin and Liz Wenzler, Jeannie Alvarez and Cindy Tollefson, Tess Braden and Carol Taylor.
The golf course was in terrific condition with lots of roll and fast greens. In following social distancing recommendations, there was a shotgun start and everyone was able to play and finish before the extreme heat became too unbearable. The temperature topped out at 109, but that didn’t prevent stellar performances from our Lady Creekers!
Winning some Pro Shop money were the following teams: Christensen and Moore, Flight A, 2nd place, $40; Enright and Meyers, Flight A, 4th place, $32; Curtis and Havener, Flight B, 3rd place, $38; McLaughlin and Wenzler, Flight B, 5th place, $24; Alvarez and Tollefson, Flight D, 2nd place, $40. Good playing, ladies!
Winner-winner chicken dinner! Cashing in on a skin was Ellen Enright, with a birdie on hole number 2 in Flight A, and splitting the pot four ways, receiving $11.75. The big money was won by Liz Wenzler in Flight B, with the solo skin and taking the whole pot with a birdie on hole number 9, grabbing $47! Congratulations to Ellen and Liz!
The next LASSI event will be held on Aug. 3 at Coyote Lakes. Go have some fun in the sun!
