General Manager’s Message: July 2020

Bill Barnard, General Manager

As was shared previously in a message to the community, we are seeing an increase in verified reporting from members of the PebbleCreek Community who have tested positive for COVID-19. We are not alone as the increased cases are happening throughout the state and country.

In my message this month, I want to stress to everyone within PebbleCreek how important it is to take COVID-19 seriously. Some of the phrases you continually hear during these trying times may become tiresome, but it doesn’t make them less true. The fact is that PebbleCreek has a more vulnerable population, in general, due to age, and possible underlying conditions that make this virus more dangerous. Young, old, or in-between, this virus is serious and we all need to be more careful, mindful, and vigilant until a vaccine or mitigating treatment is identified.

Within the HOA operation, almost every day since mid-March, we have been given a new challenge with unexpected requirements, actions, or outcomes as a result. The impact of these challenges can be seen in all of our lives. It also has an impact on our HOA staff, as they have had to undergo change after change over the past four months, sometimes adapting overnight to new mandates. Some staff members are out of work on furlough, some have been asked to do different jobs or work more hours, and others have remained on the front lines offering essential community services at their own personal risk. These staff members have been committed to the community, and sadly, some have had to endure some ugliness and discontent while just trying to do what they have been asked to protect the community. None of us want to close amenities, restrict activities, wear a mask, or do many of the things we have had to do. Federal, state, or local mandates are the law and we must abide by them. But more than that, our staff is not just taking action because it is the law, they want to help and be of service to the community. I would ask that all of you keep that in mind when interacting with the staff.

The impact that this virus has had on our community, and our world, is something that could never have been imagined. Life as we knew it has changed. What it will look like in two weeks, two months, or two years remains something that none of us can predict, and is probably the most difficult of all the challenges. My team and I remain committed to doing everything we can to maintain the high quality of life here at PebbleCreek, while navigating the many challenges that get presented to us. The HOA continues to follow CDC and governmental mandates for sanitization, mask usage, social distancing, hand-washing, and any other means to help slow and stop the spread of COVID-19. Even with every effort being made, staying safe and healthy is ultimately up to you. Your behavior and choices dictate how well this community will weather the virus. PebbleCreek is a special place, and to use an overused phrase, we are truly in this together, and when we work together, we will be better and stronger.
