PCL9GA Introduces New Member Ambassador Program

Chris Stelplugh

PCL9GA’s president-elect, Diane Burns, was looking to fill a gap when she initiated the league’s New Member Ambassador Program. With the coronavirus pandemic restricting normal channels for new members to meet and socialize with others, she envisioned a different approach.

Diane formed a committee of current Lady Niners (Suzanne Butler, Geri Seymour, and Kathy Sheard) to serve as lead ambassadors for the PCL9GA and find new ways to welcome new members and help them connect with other ladies in the league. Together, they devised a plan to schedule monthly non-league golf outings in which three new members are grouped with an ambassador for a nine-hole round. Players have an opportunity to get to know one another, make connections, ask questions, and have fun. Scores are recorded by individual players for handicap purposes only.

The first New Member Ambassador Program golf outing took place on Dec. 3. Of the 38 new members invited (who joined between Jan. 1 and Nov. 3, 2020), 13 participated. December ambassadors were Diane Burns, Kathy Sheard, Geri Seymour, Bobbie Wagner, Chris Stelplugh, and Carrie McDonald.

Dates for January and February are yet to be determined. If you are interested in serving as an ambassador for an upcoming golf outing, please contact President-Elect Diane Burns at 435-229-8718.
