The PCL9GA recently hosted our outstanding fourth annual Summer Survivors Tournament on September 25 under quite pleasant weather conditions utilizing all three of our Tuscany Falls courses. As always, the main goal of conducting the Survivor Tournament event was to encourage the socialization and cooperation among each of our four PebbleCreek Golf Leagues and for many of us, it was simply loads of fun and all 144 fun loving golfers from our PCM9GA, PCL9GA, PCMGA and PCLGA groups simply had a blast.

Normally the coordination efforts to assemble all 144 golfers from our four golf groups would be a horrendous task, but the PCL9GA Summer Survivors planning committee arranged to have team members from each of the A, B and C Flights meet with their golf carts at three predesignated locations around the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse and sure enough it was perhaps a minor miracle that we were all well orientated and assembled and were able to tee off right at the 7:30 a.m. time with little if any glitches or delays.

The tournament format used consisted of all golfers hitting their own ball for the entire 18 holes and the best/lowest net score of the foursome was used for each hole. The net score calculations were based upon the prevailing AGA handicaps of each golfer and depending upon the challenge level of each hole, team members were assigned anywhere from a zero to a two or more stroke credit which meant that a high handicap golfer that would get lucky perhaps and get a PAR on a PAR 5 hole would be credited with a three or virtual Eagle for that particular hole.

As always, the competition was incredibly close and in particular for the A and B Flights, only one stroke separated the first, second and third place winners.

Kudos are in order to the three first place foursomes as follows:

Flight A – 88, Jackie Armstrong, John Stergulz, Debbie Sayre and Ray Baumbach

Flight B – 91, Pat Howard, Lee McDonell, Gretchen Olberding and Monte Page

Flight C – 81, Barbara Brace, Bob Williams, Jill Lewis and Lew Richardson

Second Place

Flight A – 89, Brenda Sand, Mike Demanuel, Glenda Spohr and Greg Dunton

Flight B – 91, Pattie Halbmaier, Chuck Gustafson, Linda Glazar and Tom Pizzello

Flight C – 84, Caron Horan, Fred Schwartz, Marilyn Holland and Ken Gangl

Third Place

Flight A – 89, Dede Harrington, Steve Pirner, Kittie Day and Ray Clements

Flight B – 92, Kathy Tobin, Les Armstrong, Marcia McDonell and Randy Prinz

Flight C – 87, Wendy Wisser, Vince Tobin, Kathy Bergman and Jeff Horan

After the event we all congregated in the Chianti Room and enjoyed a buffet lunch along with an open bar. Many thanks to the efforts of our outstanding Golf Pros Mike Pruitt and Ronnie Decker who compiled the results and the awards were presented. Patti Englehardt and Brenda Sands along with many other club members are to be commended for an awesome job in the planning and coordination of this highly successful event.
