Do you remember that 1970s ketchup commercial jingle? “An-ti-ci-pa-tion, an-ti-ci-pa-tion, it’s making me wait. Think about how good it will taste when it finally gets there.” That is how we are feeling at PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) as we eagerly anticipate the return of snowbirds and the beginning of fall small groups and Bible studies.
We are blessed at PCCC to have dedicated volunteers who serve as leaders. Some have served in this capacity for many years, while others have recently been called to use their gifts. What they all have in common is a desire to see their groups grow spiritually and be in a closer connection to each other and God. Studies for men, for women and for mixed groups are offered. Get-togethers can take several forms – studying books of the Bible, meeting men and women of the Bible, watching DVDs, following study guides or gathering in prayer. Most meetings take place in homes where the atmosphere is welcoming and the conversation is encouraging, as we pray for each other and share learnings, laughs, tears and hugs.
Anyone can join a study. First, PCCC is a gathering of diverse backgrounds. It is a melting pot of denominations that come together in our community church. All are welcome. We learn from each other and share what the Lord is doing in our lives. Secondly, we are all a work in progress. From those who have been in Bible studies and small groups for years to those who come for the first time, God is still working, making us what we ought to be. Returning to the jingle, “we say it is all s-l-o-w good.”
Our website www.pebblecreekchurch.org will soon post a listing of the fall studies. Get in touch with a leader of a study that interests you, or email Mary McFarland, chair of our education committee, at [email protected].
Each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. we turn our Eagle’s Nest ballroom into a Christian sanctuary. All are welcome to join in our one-hour services followed by social gatherings.
