The PebbleCreek Democratic Club meeting on April 6 was jam-packed with excitement—our speaker, Arizona Attorney General candidate Kris Mayes, brought the huge crowd to its feet with thunderous applause, while out in the hallway we collected mounds of donations to help the local community care for rescued pets and provide food, clothing, and household goods to those less fortunate.

Our May 4 meeting in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom (social hour starts at 6 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m.), our last until September, will feature Arizona Secretary of State candidate Reginald Bolding. Over the summer, social and activities will continue, as will our support of Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank, the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (Humane Society), the Phoenix Rescue Mission, and Hope’s Closet.

Since the start of 2022, the Democratic Club members have contributed $225 to Kare Bears, 226 pounds of food and $200 to Agua Fria, more than 300 pounds of clothing to the Phoenix Mission, and $415 and 243 pounds of towels, throws, puppy pee pads, dog leashes, collars, toys, and kitty litter to the Humane Society. More details about our work with those organizations is available on the club’s website, pcdemclub.org.

Our Men’s Breakfasts and game nights will continue unabated over the summer. The community is invited to the Goodyear City Council Candidate Forum on May 14 in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom from 2 to 4 p.m. We will also continue our voter registration, canvassing, phone banking, and postcard-writing activities over the summer. Information on those activities will be on the website and disseminated by email as well.

We hope our part-time members and residents have a wonderful summer wherever they are, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall. The first social event for the club will be on Oct. 28, a Blast to the Past Welcome Back, because we still love the ‘60s and ‘70s! Remember, our club is open to all residents of the PebbleCreek community.
