The PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) proudly joined in the celebration of our Pastor, Nate Watkins, and his wife Rocio’s son, Carson, who graduated from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., on May 28 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

PCCC commemorated Carson’s graduation at a recent Sunday morning service. The Church was adorned in red, white, and blue and the artfully decorated cake on the Fellowship table created the perfect setting to honor our new graduate. There was a slide show of his experience at the Academy and his graduation where Vice President JD Vance was the commencement speaker and presented Carson with his diploma. A patriotic quilt hand-made by fellow PC residents that depicted blue and red airplanes with the wording USA Air ForceFreedomLibertyCountry was presented with our thanks for his service. Carson was also given a letter from the Church Missions Committee along with a $1,000 check payable to Samaritan’s Purse designated in honor of his graduation. The donation will be used to sponsor a couple participating in Operation Heal Our Patriots, a mission supported by PCCC that helps military families recover from the traumas of war and find their way back to a peaceful Christian lifestyle.

To be able to attend the Air Force Academy, applicants interview with a congressman and his or her cabinet. They decide if the applicant is qualified to attend. Carson interviewed with a congressman from New York who subsequently nominated him to the Academy. There were 10,000 applicants with only 1,000 chosen to receive an appointment to the Air Force Academy.

Carson’s two older brothers are also in the military. Jake, also a graduate of the Air Force Academy, is a USAF Captain and a pilot. Noah, a graduate of West Point, is a 1st Lieutenant and is an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the Army. During the graduation ceremony, Jake was there for Carson’s reading of his oath and then commissioned him into the Air Force. Noah, and their mother Rocio, pinned the rank bars on him. Carson’s best friend, George Del Pino, a U.S. Army Sergeant, provided his first salute.
