The challenge of moving to a new place is becoming connected to friends with similar interests and learning the amenities of an active adult community such as PebbleCreek. One of the greatest advantages of PebbleCreek is the many opportunities to learn, create new skills, enjoy like-minded activities and find your community of friends. It can be overwhelming as you begin going to activities and discovering how to become involved.
The PC Quilters have found that by someone taking the time to get new members together to learn about the PC Quilters organization, meet other new members and discover all that the Creative Arts Center with a focus on the Diamondback Room, new members are more comfortable and become involved sooner. Linda Labenz, past President, has become the ambassador for getting to know and orienting the new members. She organizes small groups that are given a tour of the Diamondback Room and the resources that are available. Then the group goes out to lunch to get to know one another, ask questions and enjoy Toscanos. The social committee has also been assisting new members to become involved by organizing groups to go to quilt shows and other events.
