Spring has sprung and Passover is a spring festival. April 11 was the Shalom Club’s annual Passover Seder. Mimi and Bruce Birnel did a fabulous job organizing the event with so many helpers. Sandy and David Mednick conducted the service. Their reading of the Haggadah enriched the celebration. Over 100 people shared a traditional Seder meal of chicken or beef, roasted potatoes, carrots, matzo ball soup, gefilte fish, charoses, matzo, wine and dessert.

This meal was different from all other meals. This year Angela Rodirigo donated a beautiful Seder Plate, candlestick holder and wine goblet. As a token of our appreciation, the Shalom Club invited her to join our Seder. Thank you, Angela.

Sports Day 2017 was a blast with over 60 people attending. Judy Ruck, Bob Ferro and their entourage of helpers pulled off another fabulous event! Who could decide what to do? Pickleball, bocce, cards and games or schmoozing. The fun continued as we dined on pizza, chips, ice cream and goodies.

We look forward to Mother’s Day/Father’s Day Combo Sunday Brunch on May 21 at 10:00 a.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Palm Room.

We meet once a month on the third Sunday of each month in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Our April program consisted of the two run-off election candidates for city council. Brannon Hampton and Sara Gilligan addressed the crowd and also provided time for questions and answers.
