Passover Seder in the Chianti Room (photo by Sy Rosenthal)

The Shalom Club has three major events each year: A break the fast after Yom Kippur, a Chanukah party, and a Passover Seder. This picture is from our Seder held April 16 this year. It is one of the more difficult events to organize since a lot of the foods need to be specially prepared by our members, which include the appetizers and the desserts. A big thank you goes out to event organizers Martha Bergman and Hermine Sulzberg. They bought the specialty items, gathered all our many volunteer cooks, decorated the room, figured out the complicated seating chart, and kept the evening moving smoothly. The catering staff also did a great job serving food at various times during the evening to so many tables.

Our monthly activities continue during the summer months with happy hours, men’s breakfasts, and ladies’ luncheons at local restaurants. On May 20 we went to an adult puppet show, “Alien,” at the Playhouse in the Park. Another interesting activity was a visit to see the Doo Wop Project at the Vista Center for the Arts.

Our high holy days services in September are available to members and guests, which include three days of services and a Kiddush lunch.
