Members of the rug hooking club are excited to show you their latest fiber artworks on display this month in the Creative Arts Center.
Quilter and hooker Karen Bogadi started her paisley rhino during a workshop last November and completed the project this September. Karen first covered her foundation cloth in intricate, hand-drawn paisleys. She hooked the rhino in warmer colors and surrounded the animal shape in cooler shades. See if you can make out the subtle rhino shape.
Karen Lubahn was intrigued by a geometric pattern other members had hooked. “The pattern was a challenge due to the complexity of the design and the issue of color choices,” Karen says. It took Karen more than a year to complete her large project. She is very happy with the results. Come see Karen’s beautiful color combinations.
Donna Holbeck adapted her maple leaf design from a picture she admired. “The colors are unexpected for a traditional maple leaf,” Donna says, “and that’s why I like the design.” The design and colors fit Donna’s unique style.
