New Elders for PebbleCreek Community Church

Doug McFarland

The congregation of PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) elected three new Elders to join the Elder Board in 2016. Jan Kirk and Keith Easley begin three-year terms and Jim Reynolds fills a one-year term. All three have been members of PCCC for several years.

The 10 member Elder Board is the governing body of the church and its members are also spiritual leaders for the congregation. Each has an area of responsibility for the life of the church. In addition to Pastor Dennis Kizziar, Hal Merwald (chair of the board and education), the Elders and their responsibilities are the following: Keith Easley (trustees), Ron Glynn (communications), Ray Hadden (worship), Jan Kirk (deacons), Doug McFarland (finance), Jim Reynolds (membership), Bruce Sharp (missions) and George Thomas (fellowship and chaplains).

PCCC is non-denominational and welcomes all Christian believers. Current members of the Elder Board have personal backgrounds in Baptist, Church of Christ, Congregational, Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. The mission statement, adopted in 2014, is “PebbleCreek Community Church is a caring, loving church that proclaims the Bible message of the living Christ.”

Other church leaders and volunteers include the Deacons and the Trustees. The Deacons, who care for those in need doing such things as providing meals and visiting the sick, are Becky Chapman, Dorrie Clark (chair), Leota Easley, Bob Henry, Barbara Klaessy, Judy Merwald, Joan Olson, Tas Raza and Ruth Walters. The Trustees, who provide all the setup for our services, are Paul and Gloria Alex, Richard Blomberg, Lee Eakins, Don Klaessy, Darrel LoCasio, Patricia Martin, Dave Modderman, Ralph Robie, Roberta Thompson and Michael Wilson. Continuing in their PCCC positions are Secretary Marsha Lyons, Treasurer Syd Mersereau and Director of Music Donna Giocomo.

PCCC has experienced a welcome period of growth in membership, giving and outreach since the arrival of our Pastor Dennis Kizziar and his wife Joan in late 2014. The members of these boards, plus many more members of the church committees, are busy and happy to contribute to the life of the church.

All are invited to join us for the weekly service every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. Much information, including belief statements, past sermons, fellowship events and mission outreaches, can be found on the PCCC website, www.pebblecreekchurch.org, email [email protected].
