With several new officers in place for the next two years, PebbleCreek’s Bocce Club is excited about potential changes to league play in an effort to encourage more residents to participate. Board members will meet in early June to go over ideas and suggestions to make the club more inclusive to all residents at all skill levels.
First up is designing a training program with the intent of helping people understand the game and how to play it. This is especially geared towards those who have never played bocce before or very infrequently, and want to learn the basics. Rules, strategies, and skill development will be priorities.
The next topic is about creating an “open play day” for all residents, not just Bocce Club members. This will be a designated drop-in day/time where people play in the order they show up—a great way to meet new people, play with others of differing skill sets, and practice for upcoming league play. We hope to make this a reality at some point, but are just now starting the discussion.
We have many other ideas on tap for growing the Bocce Club in upcoming seasons. Stay tuned for more information. If you have any ideas or suggestions you would like the board to consider, please send them to [email protected].
