Three days in April, that’s all they needed! The atmosphere, as well as the courts, were filled with the excitement of the best and brightest male tennis players vying for cash prizes. It’s been three years since Randy’s Rowdy Rascals Tennis Tournament occurred, and those three days were phenomenal. The men were ready to squash their opponents on the courts with their powerful ace serves, robust returns, trick shots, and unbelievable dance moves. To participate in this tournament you needed to sign up and pay an entry fee.

Fifteen men and one very brave and exceptionally talented woman participated in this event. Each team was paired with a 3.5 and 4.0 player. The duos were drawn randomly for competition allowing for even rankings for each team. Eric Smith acted as the moderator and master of ceremonies, keeping track of the schedules and scores, as well as presenting the prizes. Jim Lewis and Troney Hutchins were the tournament coordinators/leaders.

The top three teams were awarded cash prizes and the knowledge that they are the cream of the crop for 2022. Here they are: First Place: Eric Rohlman and Richard Margison, Second Place: Dave Kersey and John Flynn, and Third Place: Dan Schimmelpfennig and Dan Lichtenfeld.

Way to go, guys!

A separate medal round of one set was played by the top six teams. This set was to determine the winners for medals. The winners are: Gold: Richard Margison and Eric Rohlman, Silver: Dan Lichtenfeld and Dan Schimmelpfennig, and Bronze: Greg Fisher and Terry Rigo.

There also were other winners, but the one that was most unique was the best outfit, going to Jim Lewis and Cliff Hopps. The tattoos were great, guys! The dance that went with it was sure to intimidate their opponents.

The age range for the participants was our lone woman, Barbara Camozzi, who was the youngest, to the super senior John Flynn, who was the eldest player.

The weather for this tournament was a little on the toasty side, but the breeze was just perfect for keeping the courts, as well as the participants, cool.

Here’s to next year guys. Put on your game face and enjoy being part of this rowdy group of noble, yet humble, tennis competitors.
