We had a wonderful open house on November 27, Black Friday. In this photo, PebbleCreek residents Donnie and Linda Renfro’s daughter-in-law Jill is showing her girls (Addi, Rori and Jada) the Christmas special as it rounded one of the planters in the courtyard!

We estimated about 150 folks stopped by to check out trains running in four locations. We also displayed the work-in-progress on the O-scale modules. When they are finished, we will be able to run three sizes of trains for folks to enjoy in five places!

Our final Open House of the season was December 26. The deadline for this article was too early in the month for me to be able to report about that session but we know it will have been fun!

We plan another Open House around spring break or Easter – probably Good Friday. Plan to come out then and see what progress we have made!

In January we will start our 18th year here in PebbleCreek. It is hard to believe that we have been here that long!

If your family’s schedule didn’t allow you to catch one of the Open Houses, we are working on our pikes or running the GLW railroad every Tuesday and Thursday morning. This work and fun goes on every month of the year. Members are here by 9:00 a.m. (or occasionally a bit after) and we leave for lunch together about 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in railroads, model railroading or just hanging out with some folks, consider coming by about 11:00 a.m. and going to lunch with us.

Outside those times, members may be available to show off our railroad. Make arrangements with Mark Pelletier (847-224-5653) or Chuck Weart (623-535-0325).

The PebbleCreek Model Railroad Club has been a part of community life here since 1998. We are headquartered in the Eagle’s Nest Activities Center, Room 106. Members are there on Tuesday and Thursday mornings – but not always running trains. You can always keep up with the PCMRC on the web at www.pcmrc.org.
