“This summer, my husband and I went to a military museum in Maine that is absolutely fabulous,” enthused Trudy Shaffer, PebbleCreek director of accounting. “The museum has provisions that anything that has been donated to this museum will never be sold or thrown out (unless it’s in horrible condition). I think this is wonderful because so many of us have memorabilia from family members who served in the military and, quite frankly, don’t know what to do with it but don’t want it destroyed.”

“The mission of the museum is to teach today’s and future generations the true meaning of Service Above Self,” said Lee Humiston, museum curator. “Through authentic artifacts, displayed in a variety of formats, viewers can bear witness to the experiences and sacrifices of past members of our Armed Forces. The museum exhibits cover every aspect of military service from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan and Iraq. Our claim to fame is to tell the stories, to bring the people behind the artifacts to life.” Everything in the museum is 100% genuine and all donated. Lee says that to ensure authenticity, nothing is ever purchased.

You can help the museum continue its mission to honor those who served and to educate others about their sacrifices by sending your story and artifacts (or financial donations) to:
