The first meeting of the new year for the Men’s Christian Fellowship of PebbleCreek (MCFPC) will be Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 a.m. in the Tuscany Falls Chianti Room. The special guest speaker is Dra Rogers, who just completed his first year as area representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Rogers is also the varsity basketball coach at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear. He also serves as the football chaplain for Buckeye and Verrado high schools. Dra says that since his playing days in high school, his passion has been to develop the next generation of leaders. “Over the past year, this desire has been turned to developing Christ-centered leaders. I will share my story and how God has directed me into ministry and where faith and obedience have dropped me off,” said Rogers.
Dra and his wife, Julie, are members of Desert Springs Community Church in Goodyear. Their blended family includes Jalen, Mercedes, Cash, and Massiah.
At the group’s December meeting, Goodyear Vice Mayor Brannon Hampton addressed those present with a summary of recent and upcoming growth in Goodyear and the city’s planning for infrastructure needs, including job growth, demand for utilities, and law enforcement.
The group’s next community outreach effort is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20 at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Surprise. A group meets in the Eagle’s Nest parking lot across the street from the Activities Center at 6:45 a.m. and returns around 11 a.m. For more information or to volunteer, contact Jim Sykes at 614-395-4907.
The MCFPC is a group of 115 Christian men that meets the first Wednesday of each month (October through April) and features a guest speaker on timely topics. Coffee is provided and all men of PebbleCreek are invited to attend.
