I have come to the conclusion that time moves faster as you age. It is the only logical answer I have to explain how fast the PebbleCreek Line Dance Club season has progressed. Granted, every year seems to move ahead quicker, but this year even more so. Maybe it was the new dancers, or the new music and format from our instructor or seeing old friends after the summer break. My guess is that it is a combination of all of the above. In any event our season will be ending at the end of this month (April 28).

This season has been good to us. We had a large number of beginners join us in October. Many of them stayed with us for the season. They were joined by the continual influx of new people through January. When our season starts again at the end of October I expect a number of these beginners will move to open dancing. Some, though, will choose to take beginners again. It’s a cycle that repeats itself every year. I remember many years ago when I was learning I took beginners for two years. Only midway through the second year did I feel comfortable enough to move to open dancing. Everyone learns at their own speed.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sharon Scheffer for the work she put into this season. The new dances in open were a real treat. I wonder what she will have in store for us next year? I would also like to thank the ladies that helped Sharon. Shirley Jacobs, Susanne Moy and Mildred Callahan helped anchor the beginner’s class. In the open class a number of people helped but Shirley, Susanne and Diana Berty come to mind first.

Speaking of helpers there are some other people I would like to mention. I’ve talked before about the time Sharon spends preparing. Let’s not forget that we also have a wonderful facility in which to hold our classes. A big thank you goes out to Traci Baker (Director of Community Activities), Patti Wegehaupt and MJ Fenoglio in the Activities Office. Scheduling times and locations for all the activities at PebbleCreek is not an easy task. When you show up to dance the room is set up and the dance floor is ready. This doesn’t happen by accident. Ernest Arzumanyan the Banquet Manager is responsible for this. What a great job he did this year. There were a couple of times when Ernest and his helper Andres had to hustle to have the room ready on time. They never let us down. All of this is a reflection on the type of community in which we live.

Don’t forget the 2015/2016 season will start on October 26 of this year. Please plan on joining us if you have an interest in this type of activity.
