Our first event of 2023, our January General Membership Meeting, broke all previous attendance records! One hundred members gathered and appreciated hearing the Executive Council members’ speaking on club news and providing updates on future entertaining events. President Ken Minichiello presented the 2022 Poinsettia Ball Co-Chairs, Suzanne Butler and Rosemary Holmes with recognition awards. Once again this year, the two donated their extraordinary talents and many hours of time to plan and execute our signature event, the Poinsettia Ball—our most successful ball in 20 years!
After the meeting, members enjoyed a special musical performance by Karen Peterson and Howard Brodbeck of the Karen and Howard Piano and Percussion Duo. Musical numbers ranged from nostalgic, uplifting, and melodic folk songs, such as “The Boxer” and “Early Morning Rain” to country dance music such as “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” It was a special treat for us with Italian heritage and those who love traditional Italian music, as we rocked, swayed and sang along to old favorites such as “Mambo Italiano,” “New York State of Mind,” “That’s Amore,” and “My Way.” For several members, seat-dancing wasn’t enough, so a few brave souls, including our president, showed off their smooth and flawless footwork on the dance floor!
