Poem by Jim “Deak” Roberts
What could be finer than lunch at Bella Luna in the afternoon
Joe and Vera Cappiello took our Italian-American Club there none too soon
It’s a family affair you know with owner Josephine Billelo, Chef Sam and GM A.J. Billelo
And more family with waiters Nicole Billelo, Crystal Nelson and Greg Capeli in the room
We got rolling with gracious owner Josephine Billelo guiding Jim Roberts’ wheelchair to his place
Jim and Joe Cappiello would enjoy the Veal Parm while Vera enjoyed the Veal Genovese
Ken Minichiello loved the Veal Picata as Gayle Williams was all over the Primavera
And Bill Davis and Kent Brace had the lasagna all over their face
You would swear the aroma of the Amalfi Coast filled the air as Joe Lupo had the Fruutti de Mare
And Carolyn Minichiello, Pat Scott and Sue Davis dined on shrimp and salmon salads with flair
We had visions of the Gulf of Taranto as Bill Rizzetto enjoyed the shrimp with Aglio e Oglio
And the mural of the gondolas gliding through the canals of Venice was nearly too much to bear
The ambiance of Bella Luna is a reflection of the Italy of old
Lenny Williams, Tony Warcholak and Keith Passafiume were on veal completely sold
Whether Marsala, Picata or Parmigiana, Bella Luna Vitelo is always to be “Mangiare”
Just like the Fettuccini Alfredo enjoyed by Carol Roberts truth be told
Alice Miller and Deanna Lattari evoke visions of Sicily with their Chicken Genovese
The old world Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana of Tony and Joan Suriano defy time and space
Diane Passafiume Picata would be home with Jim and Rose Mansell’s Caesar’s Salad in Rome
And the Capellini Pomadoro enjoyed by Frank and Patty Shupnik was in the right place
But what have we here Famiglia Billelo with a small army following Sue Lupo
After the Eggplant Rollatini were Diane Warcholak and Judy Rizzetto
Charlie Miller and Barbara Brace too but I don’t recall it ‘On Special,’ do you
The Eggplant Rollatini was ‘King for the Day’ in the House of Billelo
What a fabulous lunch it was at Bella Luna, the House of Billelo,
The PebbleCreek Italian-Americans dining there was magnifico
We lift a glass of vino to La Famiglia Billelo just to let them know
Our culinary journey to Italy has been first class Sala da Pranzo (dining room)
La ringrazio Bella Luna, si erano excellenti (Thank you, Bella Luna, you were superb)
