Irish-American Club open to all residents

John Flynn

Your neighbors from the Irish-American Club hope that your 2015 is off to a great start. IAC members enjoyed two social events in January. The monthly afters gathering was hosted by Sam and Joyce McKinstry at their home. The afters is an Irish tradition of socializing with beverages and snacks after a wedding, funeral or business meeting. The club usually meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Room at Eagle’s Nest. Our next general meeting is on February 10. Carol and Dick Gwilt will host the afters.

On January 18 Pat and Jim Peaper hosted our twenty-sixth home hosted benefit dinner for the Agua Fria Food Bank. They were assisted by Carol and Dennis DeFrain and by Sally and Lenny Burres. Everyone had a good time with a delicious dinner, good conversation and music and games led by Rob Risden and John Flynn. Besides having fun and building friendships, members raise $300 to $400 for the food bank with each of these dinners. The February benefit dinner will be hosted by Gus and Nancy Gustafson, assisted by Susan and Charlie Kice.

Also coming up soon are a bus trip to the Dutton Family Theater in Mesa on February 18, the annual golf tournament on March 15 and the annual Emerald Ball on March 16. Later activities include a brunch outing to an Irish pub, another benefit dinner, and much more.

The Irish-American Club is open to all residents of PebbleCreek. You don’t have to be Irish to join, although a few of our 160 members are, in fact, from Ireland including Neal Collender, Mary Gimon, Carmel Flynn, Peggy and John Cronin, Nora Sweeney and Bridget Martin. All of the members appreciate things Irish and enjoy the fellowship, fun and philanthropy. For more information, contact club Secretary Judy Rizzetto at 536-1960 or club President John Pugsley at  444-5642.
