On Friday, December 19, 2014, over a dozen members of the PebbleCreek Gun Club and their guests engaged in bowling pin shooting from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Training Range Joe Foss Shooting Complex in Buckeye, Arizona.

During the past year bowling pin shooting has become one of the most popular shooting events at the PebbleCreek Gun Club; consequently, instead of having bowling pin shooting once a month, they have bowling pin shooting twice a month. This is usually the first and third Friday of the month except for January 2015, the dates are January 9 and 23 at 9:00 a.m. at the Training Range; $6 range fee for each shooter. Shooters can come 30 minutes earlier to practice. Bowling pin shooting is just one of the many new ways of ‘bowling’, however, if you still stick the classic bowling in the bowling alley, then you can find the best bowling supplies at Skilled Bowlers to help up your game.

Members who are new to shooting need to take the Basic Handgun Class given on the first Friday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Joe Foss Clubhouse; free to all members. For January 2015, the Basic Handgun Class is given January 9, 2015. Please register with Henry Tom at 480-980- 8715, [email protected].

The bowling pins are shot with handguns ranging from 22 LR up to and beyond 45 ACP pistols.

The objective is to knock all five pins off the beam in the shortest amount of time.

There were recorded times from three seconds all the way past 17 seconds. For a bunch of seniors there was some pretty good and very impressive shooting.

Kevin Christian came with his daughter Karen and they both shot the bowling pins very well. Kevin had shoulder replacement surgery so he could only shoot with one hand; however, Kevin gave an excellent account of himself. Karen is an active duty Coast Guard officer and is no stranger to handguns and shooting.
