Cead Mile Failte (100,000 welcomes) from the Irish-American Club. February events included a benefit dinner hosted by Gus and Nancy Gustafson, an “afters” at the home of Dick and Carol Gwilt, and a bus trip to the Duttons Theater in Mesa.
March is a big month for IAC members, of course, and features two major events: the golf tournament on March 15 and the Emerald Ball on March 16. Golf committee chair Greg Roth reports that the 144 players can expect a great day of golf, fun and food from the opening skrill of the bagpipe to the lavish lunch with terrific raffle prizes.
Emerald Ball chair Anne Engels reports that a few places are still available for this annual gala in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. The evening includes hors d’oeuvres, live music, a delicious served dinner, door prizes and more. Contact Anne for tickets at 536-7118. As an added treat, an evening of traditional Irish music will be at our theater on March 17.
The IAC has 180 members and is growing. The club is open to any PebbleCreeker who is interested in things Irish and enjoys socializing with nice, interesting people. Members raise money for the Agua Fria Food Bank and other local charities. Meetings are second Tuesdays in the Tuscany Falls clubhouse at 7:00 p.m. followed by an “afters” for visiting with old and new friends. Sometimes there is no business meeting, but the “afters” is held anyway at a member’s home.
April activities include a day at the races with our neighbors from the other (Italian) IAC and a lunch organized by Susan Kice at a local Celtic-themed pub. Greg and Terri Roth will host the fifth benefit dinner of the season on April 19. The annual election of officers will be held at the April 14 meeting. Contact President John Pugsley or Secretary Judi Rizzetto for more information on the Club.
