David Fredo
David Fredo, 72, of Goodyear, Ariz., passed away from leukemia on Dec. 6, 2021.
Dave and his wife, Kathy, moved to Goodyear in 2013. Dave enjoyed playing golf and Wii bowling, playing guitar, was an angel (daemon) of the Fun Line Dance Club, a member of the Gun Club, and a member of the Ballroom Dance Club and was a Fred Astaire competitive ballroom dancer. He enjoyed Saturday night dinners and cards with good friends and also enjoyed going to the fitness center six days a week.
Dave worked as a computer programmer for the Defense Department for 37 years, and after retiring, he volunteered as the assistant Cross-Country Coach at Lakewood High School in Hebron, Ohio, until moving to Arizona. Dave loved running and would run a half marathon once a year. When asked why only a half marathon he replied, “I’m only half crazy.” He had a wonderful sense of humor, and the cross-country kids termed his puns and jokes “Fredoisms.”
Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy; two brothers, Sam and Gary; daughters, Dorothy Booth and Rachael Remias; and 10 grandchildren, Teagan, Cambree, Elliott, Billy, Serenity, Trevor, Andrew, Venora, Samuel, and George. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Sam Fredo; his sister, Carol Stewart; and his granddaughter Arianna Booth.
The Fredo family wishes to express our gratitude to all who provided us with prayers, food, flowers, and cards during Dave’s illness. And special thanks to those who provided platelets and blood during his illness.
Donations may be made in Dave’s name to Hospice of the Valley.
