Ron Lawson

Ron Lawson of Unit 26 died Jan. 30, 2021, at home and at peace. Ron and his wife, Candy, retired to PebbleCreek in December 2003.

Ron was born in Richmond, KY. His family moved to Hammond, Ind. after WWII. Upon graduating from high school, Ron joined the Marine Corp in 1962. He served on a ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis and in Vietnam in intelligence. When he was discharged in 1966, he returned to California where he had gone to boot camp. Ron ended up in Hayward, Calif., where he worked and went to college. He graduated from Golden Gate University with a degree in accounting. After obtaining his CPA certificate, he began his career with the Arthur Anderson accounting firm. During Ron’s career, he was VP of Finance for Rosendin Electric in San Jose, Calif. and started several businesses, one of which was Republic Electric, Inc. in San Rafael, Calif., from which he retired in 2003.

Ron and Candy were married in 1978 and enjoyed 43 years together.

Ron was a son, friend, husband, father, grandfather to six, and great-grandfather to three.

Ron had a successful life as a businessman and a family man.

Phillip J. Sitkowski

Phillip J. Sitkowski, age 87, passed away Feb. 1, 2021. Phil was born in Cicero, Ill., on May 8, 1933. He graduated from Missouri Military Academy high school in Mexico, Missouri, where his favorite time was horseback riding after classes. He was a Navy Corpsman from 1952 to 1956. Some of that time was spent working in a psych ward, where he declared the only difference between the patients and the caregivers were the keys to the ward. He ultimately became a Loan Officer at First International Bank in LA. He retired in 1998 and moved from La Habra Heights, Calif., to PebbleCreek. During his time in California, he developed a love of the ocean and particularly of deep-sea fishing. He was also an avid golfer until 2015, golfing 360 times his first year in PebbleCreek.

He enjoyed several cruises, particularly the Alaskan cruise, with long-time friends.

His mother and father, Rose Karnak and John Sitkowski, predeceased him, as did his wife, Jacquelyn Holak Sitkowski.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jean Knight Sitkowski; his children, Steve Sitkowski of Utah, Sheryl Hoover of PebbleCreek, and Syndi Hawkins of England; and step-children, Diann Giffin (David Egger) of Texas and Michael Giffin (Lucinnda) of Colorado; his grandchildren, Phillip Hoover (Ashley), Stephany Hawkins, Mercedes Davis (Robert), and Callista Giffin, Jessica Barker (Matt), and Garrett Bukowski; and four great grandchildren.
