Counselor to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice and Writer to Speak at Men’s Fellowship April 7 Meeting

The Men’s Christian Fellowship of PebbleCreek (MCFPC) will meet via Zoom on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30 a.m. Special guest speaker will be Douglas McFarland, noted author and former counselor to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger.

Born in Portland, Ore., and grew up in Sioux Falls, S.D., McFarland received his B.A. in political science from Macalester College, a J.D. from New York University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He was a former professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and was selected five times by students as professor of the year. He served as an assistant to Uni. of M.N. President C. Peter McGrath, and McFarland was a lawyer with Dorsey and Whitney, Minneapolis, with emphasis on the corporate and litigation departments.

Published works include Chief Justice: A Supreme Court Insider’s Novel (2014) and Few are Chosen: A Campaign Memoir (2008). More information on McFarland’s writings can be found at www.douglasmcfarlandbooks.com.

Community involvement includes being a candidate for U.S. Senate and an endorsed candidate for Minn. Lt. Governor. He served 30-plus years on the board of directors of Minnesota Little Lakes Little League and currently serves on the PebbleCreek Community Church board of elders. Douglas and his wife Mary spend November through April in PebbleCreek and have four children (two sons and two daughters).

At the Fellowship’s March meeting, guest speaker Jerry McFarlane, 26-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police force and retired Navy senior chief, addressed membership and shared God’s hand in his daily life.

The MCFPC is a group of 130 Christian men who convene for monthly meetings the first Wednesday of each month and host community outreach activities.
