Gary William Barnard
Gary William Barnard was born on August 4, 1939, to John William Barnard and Fern Lorene Holt in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Gary died peacefully in his sleep on May 24, 2016.
After the passing of his parents at a very young age, Gary was raised by his Aunt Loretta and Uncle George Barnard in Paola, Kansas.
He was co-owner of Land Survey Company in Grandview, Missouri.
He moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in the 1990s then he and Kathy moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona.
Gary and his wife Kathy moved to PebbleCreek in 2004.
He enjoyed fishing with his sons and friends, entertaining, cooking, traveling and sports.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, in-laws Mary and Bernie Milligan, several brothers and sisters-in-law, daughter and sons, Karie MacDonald, Florida, Jeff and John Barnard from Missouri, five step-children, grandson Cole MacDonald and several cousins and friends in Lee Summit, Missouri and Kansas. Also want to acknowledge several close friends here in PebbleCreek that he enjoyed spending time with.
Dorothy M. Caswell
Dorothy M. Caswell died peacefully at home May 27, 2016. She was a longtime resident of PebbleCreek having lived there part time for many years and then full time as a resident of Eagle’s Nest.
Dorothy was born in Detroit, Michigan December 9, 1928, to Glen and Winifred Linten. She later moved with her family to Big Rapids, Michigan where she attended school. After WWII she met and married her husband, Earl Caswell, and shortly after they moved to Highland, Michigan. She attended Pontiac Business Institute where she received her Associate’s degree in Secretarial Studies. She worked for many years as an Executive Secretary, work which she greatly enjoyed. Besides her family she enjoyed barrel riding with her horse Tex (prior to marriage) and when her family was raised turned to ballroom dancing which she enjoyed until a few years ago. She loved her home and yard in PebbleCreek and was very happy to be here.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Caswell; mother and father Glen and Winifred Linten; brother Albert and sisters Evelyn and Glenadine and great granddaughters Soren and Josephine Dahlstrom. She is survived by her son Mike Caswell (Janet) also a resident of PebbleCreek and daughters Colleen Smith (David) of Huntington, West Virginia and Kathleen Milam (Larry) of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Brent Caswell (Donna), Christy Najvar (Mark), Matthew Smith (Beth), Angela Wilkerson (Josh), Chad Milam (Andi) and Melissa Dahlstrom (Nathan). Also surviving are great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Mason Najvar, Evan Wilkerson, Addie and Walker Smith, Zoe and Olivia Milam, Liv, Annabelle and Harry Jack Dahlstrom.
Her family celebrates her life and misses her dearly.
Jarlene Hauger
Jarlene Ann Pechan was born Tuesday, November 27, 1934 in Lesterville, South Dakota to Ed and Elsie (Vitek) Pechan. She received her education in the local area and graduated from Gayville High School in 1952. Jarlene was united in marriage to Joe Hauger on June 9, 1953. To this union, the young couple would be blessed with seven children: Gayle, Rick, Craig, Rhonda, Pamela, Kelly and Todd.
Jarlene would enjoy family camping trips even though she preferred staying inside the camper. She loved lighthouses and had a collection of them. In Jarlene’s free time she was always gardening and baking for her family. Jarlene was very fond of Bingo and crossword puzzles. When Jarlene was younger she loved Square Dancing and the people she had the pleasure of meeting at the dances.
Those left to cherish Jarlene’s memory include daughters Gayle (Kim) Sigler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rhonda (Jerry) Vanden Hull of Archer, Iowa, Pamela (Ryan) Brinkman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Kelly (John) Kemp of Brandon, South Dakota; sons Rick (Monica) Hauger of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Craig (Judy) Hauger of Goodyear, Arizona and Todd (Kimberly) Hauger of Branson, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Monte) Skillman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and numerous other relatives and friends. Jarlene is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Elsie Pechan, grandson Christopher Brinkman and great-grandson Garrett Kelley.
Funeral services were held in Yankton, South Dakota. There was a Memorial service with the family present at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls on Monday, May 23.

Wayne Harold Swords
Wayne Harold Swords was born in Los Angeles on April 16, 1925, to his father John, who sold advertising space for the Los Angeles Times and his mother Mary (Hanselman), a homemaker. Wayne was the youngest of four boys and enjoyed his youth playing in the rural and farming communities that now make up modern-day Los Angeles.
He graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1943. By day he worked in the shipyards and at night as a produce manager. Later that year as the war was raging he and his three brothers enlisted; they in the Navy and he in the Army. Just a few months later he found himself landing on Omaha Beach. He is a veteran of the Northern France, Rhineland and Central European campaigns; in addition, he was shipped to the Pacific as part of the Philippine Liberation and the Asiatic–Pacific campaigns – being among the first of U.S. troops to occupy Japan.
At the conclusion of the conflict he was assigned to the Occupation Army in Europe where he met and wed his wife Zoe of 58 years in liberated Paris, France. He retired from the Army as Master Sergeant E-8 in 1963; a veteran also of the Korean War. From 1963 to 1983 he worked for the California State Highway labs division where he retired to travel with his wife Zoe until her demise in 2006.
Wayne was a resident of PebbleCreek from October 2007 to December 2014. He participated in a number of activities to include the Wine Club and the “macular degenerates”. He was also an avid participant in the Friday morning Bingo games sponsored by the Kare Bears.
Wayne passed peacefully in his sleep on May 21, 2016, surrendering gently to his guardian angels. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Buback of Jackson, Tennessee and son Clifford Swords of Goodyear, Arizona. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Final Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with full honors to be scheduled.

Donald R. Willis
Donald R. Willis, 80, died peacefully on May 24, 2016, at his home in Goodyear, Arizona.
Don was born on January 28, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, the eighth child born to Harmon and Inez Willis. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp rising to the rank of Sergeant. Don went on to attend St. Louis University and had a successful 35 year career at Anheuser-Busch, Inc.
Don is survived by his wife and true love Roseann. Don and Rose shared 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by daughters Christine Nelson and Laura Ameiss, grandchildren Matt and Jake Ameiss, Grace and Elliot Nelson and grand dog Lulu.
A gifted athlete, Don’s passion included tennis, golf and the Arizona Cardinals. These passions were only surpassed by his love for his siblings, his many nieces and nephew, his grandchildren and his one and only Rose.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
