For a post-Thanksgiving adventure, four “B” hikers embarked on an interesting hike in Garfias Wash in the Hell’s Canyon Wilderness area roughly halfway between Morristown and the historic Castle Hot Springs Resort (due to re-open in January after 40+ years). The group was able to go several miles in the wash through some very impressive terrain before having to turn around because of a large pool of water between high rock walls blocking the way (they will have to try this again during drier weather). On the way back, the group relaxed on sunny boulders and enjoyed a leisurely lunch while viewing healthy saguaros and a touch of fall color on a few cottonwoods and even got into the spirit of the next holiday. The club hikes in many interesting areas around the valley, providing the opportunity to enjoy scenery and terrain a person might not experience as a solo hiker.
