On February 16 Jerry Monk, president of the PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association, announced the Most Improved Player for the 2016 golfing season. That player is Harvey Winn. The announcement took place during the PCMGA Club Championship dinner in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom.

Harvey is a long standing PCMGA member who lived most of his adult life in the Portland, Oregon area. As a graduate of the University of Oregon, he is a huge Duck fan. He spent his career in the lumber business. He was a lumber broker who negotiated deals between lumber mills and furniture manufacturers and other users of wood products. He has lived at PebbleCreek for eight years.

Harvey has been playing golf for over 45 years. His lowest handicap index ever was 5.9. He’s had two holes-in-one in his golf career, both coming in the last five years here at PebbleCreek (No. 7 Lakes and No. 17 Eagle’s Nest).

The PCMGA uses the USGA method to determine who is The Most Improved Player. The formula used is a ratio that encompasses the handicap index at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year. The formula also takes into account that it is more difficult to improve from an index of 10.0 to a 5.0 than it does to improve from a 25.0 to a 20.0. The PCMGA player with the highest ratio is the winner.

An award of $25 has been added to his PCMGA winnings card.

Congratulations to Harvey for a great season!
