Katherine Arkell
Howard Eugene “Gene” Mahler of Redford, MI and Irmgard “Irmie” Zeitz of Schweinfurt, Germany were married on June 3, 1960, in Redford. Gene proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Army in the infantry and military police, including two tours in Vietnam. He then worked in law enforcement as a city patrol officer and, later, chief of police in Fairbanks.
His achievements would not have been possible without the support of his lovely wife, Irmie. She kept the family together through numerous moves domestically and internationally. She also ran their golf pro shop, Caddyshack, during the summers at Ft. Wainwright, AK.
Gene and Irmie have been part of PebbleCreek since 1997 and are involved in numerous clubs and associations within the community. Together they have traveled the globe extensively including spending 20 years RVing across the U.S. and Canada.
They have three children, Buck, Katherine, and Karl, and two grandchildren, Andrew and Austin.
