Goodyear K-9 Teams for 2016

Jim Ellison

On Sunday, March 6, 2016, the Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek sponsored a well attended charity golf tournament which raised funds for the City of Goodyear Police Department K-9 Unit. This was the seventh year that this event has been held and it was a great success. Sponsors and residents enthusiastically supported this event which also included a live K-9 demonstration by the Goodyear Police Department’s four K-9 officers and their canine partners.

$5,374 was raised at this year’s event through donations, golf entry fees and sponsor activities on the golf course, which will be used by the Goodyear K-9 Unit for equipment (like the tactical gear, body armor and law enforcement equipment you might find on danasafetysupply.com), training expenses and veterinary bills.

Winners of this year’s tournament:

1st Place in the first flight: Pam Schunke, Kelly Schunke, Mary Falso, Richard Johnston

2nd Place in the first flight: Gerald Sota, Jr., Cindy Sota, Sarah Marsh, Renee DeLassus

1st Place in the second flight: Dave Willison, Bart Cook, Gary Ham, Doyle Brown

2nd Place in the second flight: Bob Holtsberry, Ann Holtsberry, David Baseheart, Karen Reese

On the course winners were Judy Myers – closest to the line, Marc Goldberg – closest to the pin on No. 4, and Lyman Gallup for the men/Chrissy Bridges for the women – closest to the pin on No. 17.

We would like to thank all those who turned out to play golf, participate in activities or just to donate funds to support this worthwhile cause.

Special recognition and thanks go out to our sponsors this year:

Super Target (Yuma Road/Cotton Lane) Lazy Palm Sports Grill, West Valley Golf Cars, Vegas 2 U, Mary Couzens Realty, Karen Reuland, Dixon Golf, Southwest Preferred Properties, Paula/Susan Fix Bob and Ann Holtsberry, Family Dentistry, Dr. Martin and Dr. Gibbs, Breathe Later, Bridging Memories, Chrissy Bridges, FX Tactical

In addition, the success of this event could not have happened without the support of the volunteers who manned the tables, checked in golfers, sold raffle tickets and assisted on the golf course: Rose Dudney, Louise Dick, Diane Wheaton, Carrie Grein, Rose Latino, Carmele Legorburu, Marge Ellison, Nebbie Braun, Sandra Smith, Carolyn Storz, Kristi Millington, Debra Johnson, Julie Schilling, Gina Bonnett, Mollie McErlean and Mimi Gifford. We would especially like to thank Chrissy Bridges, Jeanne Place and Ronnie Decker for coordinating the golf tournament.
