General Manager’s Message

Over the past several years, there has been a strong increase in home sales here in Arizona and in PebbleCreek. As a result, we are continuing to see many new community members. Sometimes navigating all that PebbleCreek has to offer, and learning how to get things done, can be daunting, especially for a new homeowner. The HOA website, pebblecreekhoa.org, is a very good source of information, where you can find just about everything that you are looking for with a bit of navigation. Things you’ll find include maps of our facilities, a comprehensive member directory, club listings, Board and other governing documents, restaurant menus, activity listings, and much, much more. The PebbleCreek Source Book also has basic information about PebbleCreek and the important phone numbers that you may be looking for, as well as a directory for homeowners. For the human touch, our Resident & Guest Services (RGS) desks are a great resource for information, and I encourage you to contact them whenever you may need some help. The main RGS phone number is 623-935-6780. In addition to the many informational questions, I find that new and longtime homeowners sometimes wonder who does what, and why. In my message this month, I want to shed some light on this topic.

In my role as the General Manager (GM), I oversee all operational aspects of the PebbleCreek business for the HOA Board of Directors. I am responsible for the buildings, roads, common areas, golf courses, restaurants, patrol, fitness facilities, pools, sports courts, theater, meeting rooms, ballrooms, housekeeping, human resources, accounting, administrative functions, and the list goes on. I have a great support team with approximately 300 staff members, which includes an Assistant GM, and a small team of directors and managers that specifically focuses on the operations listed above. We handle the day-to-day processes and business of PebbleCreek. I’ve said it many times—PebbleCreek is essentially a small city, and my role is similar to that of a city manager. PebbleCreek is larger than our neighboring city of Litchfield Park, and many of the cities that our residents come from.

The HOA Board of Directors is tasked with making sure the community is running well, following the requirements of the governing documents, and meeting its fiduciary obligations. The Board is responsible for setting policy, rules, and guidelines, as well as developing the strategic vision for the community’s future needs. There are four committees that support the board: Architecture and Landscape Committee (ALC), Rules Compliance Committee, Golf Committee, and Election Committee. These committees are composed primarily of homeowner volunteers who donate their time to help our community, with our ALC having a small staff employed by the HOA. In going back to the city analogy, the Board of Directors is similar to the role of the city council.

Understandably, these roles can be confusing to homeowners when attempting to make changes or get answers. The General Manager can make changes to operational issues but not to HOA policy or rules that are governed by the HOA Board of Directors. If you have questions or need further information, you can always visit PebbleHelp.org to send us a question, report an issue, or provide feedback. It will get passed on to the correct manager for action or consideration.

We are going to start hosting our New Homeowner Orientation in person again for new residents moving into the community. It had been suspended due to COVID-19, replaced by a video version instead. The video can be found on the HOA website, and we will be updating that as well so that any of our homeowners, longtime or brand new, can access the valuable information any time.

As we begin the spring season, we are seeing an increase in activity with COVID restrictions loosening, and more people feeling comfortable going out and about. I thank you all for your support of me, and our entire team, as we have gone through the past two years with many challenges, and continue to face some challenges with staffing and supply chain shortages. As we find solutions for these existing and sometimes new challenges, let’s look to a safe, healthy, and bright future to live your best life here in PebbleCreek.
