Join us Monday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Eagle’s Nest Palm Room for the next PebbleCreek Genealogy Club (PCGC) meeting. Guests are always welcome!

The theme of this year’s program is “American Migration.” On Monday, June 10, we will hold a workshop on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org. Do you want to start or expand your family tree? Interested in adding the documentation to confirm who your ancestors are? Then please join us! Participants, including guests, can bring their laptops and get assistance from experienced users on how to navigate and maximally use these sites.

On July 8, members will travel to the Mesa Arizona FamilySearch Center for a tour with time to do individual research. We are looking forward to using their resources for our research. To learn more about the center, see mesatemple.org/family-search-library.

There is no meeting in August. Meetings will resume in September with a revised format starting at 9 a.m. with the business meeting, followed by Tips and Tricks and the speaker. We are all looking forward to the next round of topics!

At the May meeting, Tips and Tricks on “Finding Your Missing Female Ancestor” was presented by Jolene Beard. Insights were gained on how to find these often elusive family members, whose last names might be unknown to you.

The May speaker was Jan Whalen, who presented Genealogy Starts with You, focusing on four modes/skills that enable one to fit into the dynamic world of genealogy. Jan shared her method for selecting vital stories that make up one’s legacy. Her perspective is the result of 15 years of book “projects,” and she brought examples to be used as references for sharing one’s work. Her session was informative, interactive, and uplifting.

Ms. Whalen, founder of Whalen Voices, is an award-winning author, workshop leader, and book creation coach. In June of 2023, she earned the HerStory Award from the Women’s Federation for World Peace for “her nurturing and encouraging spirit that helps women find their voice through sharing their stories.” Her mission is to celebrate life through her writing.

Jan works with aspiring authorsmuch like a tour guideto discover the beauty of their experiences and wisdom. Her mission is to celebrate life through her books: Rock Solid Confidence, You Are the Perfect Age, and Conversations With Well Seasoned Women; a line of greeting cards, and her just completed leading of 45 sessions of “SOLE to SOUL” workshops.

On April 21, we had a club gathering at the home of Denise Beeson, co-hosted by our Treasurer, Jayne Parise. Members got together for good food, fun, and networking.
