Gary Long was unanimously voted in as President of the PebbleCreek Gun Club at the club’s annual April meeting. Also elected were Vice President Bill Wagner, Secretary Sue Wilson and Treasurer Kathy Fredo. “I decided to run for office because I want to help bring more fun and interest in the club and bring in new members by offering lectures, gun safety courses and by encouraging members and PebbleCreek residents in general to participate. I believe we’ve elected a strong, terrific team that will make it happen.”
The PebbleCreek Gun Club was organized in May 2011 when it was formally approved by the PebbleCreek HOA Board of Directors. The club has grown from 17 members in 2011 to over 150 members today. “In the last few years, we’ve seen a drop in membership and activities,” noted Gary, “and I want to reverse that trend.”
Gary says he plans to focus on the core activities of the club: rifle and pistol shooting; shotgunning (trap, skeet, sporting clays); hunting; self-defense and education and training. “We need to foster more camaraderie and fun for our existing members and find ways to attract new members. I am especially keen to develop more women shooters and programs just for them,” Gary stated.
Before retiring to PebbleCreek Gary spent over 30 years in the building industry, rising from the ranks of laborer to Director of Field Operations. He was known for being creative and competent in the administration of organizational objectives and successful in day-to-day operations of business — both as a team member and as an owner/operator of independent businesses. Gary feels his experience as a troubleshooter and problem solver will help him – and his team — grow the PebbleCreek Gun Club.
