Alzheimer’s/Dementia Discussion Group

Rayma Scalzo

Tina Yohe, with the Goodyear Community Paramedicine Program, will be the guest speaker for the May 20 Alzheimer’s/Dementia Discussion Group Meeting.

This is a preventative program that provides health resources and assistance to the community on a non-emergency basis. The crews are advocates for the individual to help with education and resources, bridging the gap between when they visit the doctor or hospital and return home, or simply providing the individual with ways to navigate certain aspects of health and home care. The program is free to the community on an appointment basis with no insurance requirements. It is a very low profile program with no fire truck or attention drawn to the participant. The crew shows up in an SUV type vehicle with two paramedics doing the visit. This is a trial program which they hope will become sustainable. This is a free service that you all should know about. Wow!

Services include: Healthcare Assessment; Healthcare Referrals; Home Safety Inspections; Preventative Care Programs; Community Resource Referrals

Respite Care

We may be able to provide free respite care for those having Alzheimer’s/Dementia disease. This allows the caregiver the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group meeting. If you let us know, we will try to arrange for someone to come to your home during the two hour meeting. For this assistance, we do ask that you RSVP by Thursday, May 18.

Monthly Breakfast

The caregivers meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. This gives them an opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. Knowing others who are going through the same journey is very beneficial.

Please note: Our meetings are for Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregivers only. We meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For the location of the meeting or to RSVP for respite care, please contact Rayma at 623-935-1819 or send an email to  [email protected].
