On Dec. 11, 96 women golfers from the PebbleCreek community participated in the third annual Candy Cane Classic. This is a fun, 18-hole scramble event organized by Sheri Sears and Liz Mitchell to raise funds for a children’s charity. The winners of this event were the team captain, Marilyn Reynolds, and included team members Gail Bradstreet, Mary Pinski, and Sharon Temple. A good time was had by all, complete with Christmas attire, decorated carts, and assorted cookies and drinks. All money raised was donated to children’s charities. The winners designated the $2,400 first place purse to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. The last-place team also designated $950 to a community program in Goodyear.
