The PebbleCreek Democratic Club opens the 2022 meeting season with a bang, welcoming the director of economic development for the city of Goodyear, Lori Gary, as the speaker for the Jan. 5 meeting at the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. The social hour begins at 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Lori began with the city in September 2018 and has helped oversee its huge growth. She has almost 30 years of economic development experience and is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). She also served as Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) president in 2010-11.

Prior to accepting the director position in Goodyear, Lori served as a senior project manager with the city of Mesa, working with their economic development department for six years. She promoted new investment, redevelopment and reuse, and job creation within Mesa’s Fiesta District, Falcon District, and West Mesa.

As for other community and professional affiliations, Lori is currently a member of Toastmasters International, IEDC, Arizona Rural Development Council, and the Industrial Development Authority. She has also held several positions with numerous non-profit organizations, including American Red Cross, United Way of Pinal County, Decatur Area Women’s Network, Shemamo Girl Scouts Council, and the YWCA.

In addition to learning about all the city and regional expansion, the club will hold its annual election for club officers. Any currently enrolled club member interested in serving as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, or at-large board member should contact the current secretary, Alisa Moore, at [email protected]. Position descriptions are available on the club website; go to www.pcdemclub.org and click on Duties of Officers.

The PebbleCreek Democratic Club has grown substantially, especially in the past couple of years, and now is more than 315 members strong. Our monthly meetings offer opportunities to learn about current Arizona issues and to hear political officeholders and candidates discuss their views on local and national issues. We also hear from non-political leaders about social and community concerns in Arizona. In addition to meeting the first Wednesday of each month, we support local charitable organizations and host multiple and varied social events.

The club is open to all residents of PebbleCreek. You do not have to be a registered Democrat to attend our meetings or join our club. Should you wish to contact one of our club officers for more information, call or email them by referring to information on www.pcdemclub.org, where you can also find an application form.
