Two lovely ladies who are quite new to the world of fused glass are both doing amazing things as newcomers! They must have gotten the “glass fever” that we all get working with glass.
Featured on the left is Paula Steiner, who moved to PebbleCreek from Washington state. Her husband started their own business in 1992 and they traveled extensively, until 2020 when her husband passed. They were married for 50+ years. She enjoys many outdoor sports such as swimming and skiing. Most of all, she enjoys her family and grandchildren who reside in Washington and Idaho, and she travels there frequently. She enjoys the quiet life of PebbleCreek and all it has to offer.
Paula has always been interested in the creative arts, which led her to learning fused glass. Now it’s one of her greatest passions. She loves sharing ideas, trying new techniques, and expanding her creativity. The camaraderie of the members is most appealing, and she realizes that this art form is true artistry and something she will continue to pursue into the future.
To the right is Cindy Rainey-Bell, who moved to PebbleCreek last February. Cindy is a snowbird, spending her time between here and Alaska. Cindy started learning glass skills with a private class. She fell in love with the entire process right away and has been creating beautiful pieces ever since.
Cindy’s skills as a quilter (30 years) have helped her transition easily into glass work. Instead of cutting and sewing fabric, she is cutting glass and fusing it. Her husband was tragically killed in a mid-air plane collision in 2020. It’s been tough to be excited about anything since then, however, doing glass has reignited her creative passion. She is very appreciative of all the creative people in the glass club helping and encouraging her.
We can all learn something from these ladies as they are both stepping out and trying new techniques. It’s been fun having them in the glass room and watching them develop into glass artists!
