The PebbleCreek Democratic Club hosted an all-inclusive International Spring Picnic on April 2, 2017 at the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom. The theme was Stronger Together, Celebrating our Diversity. We wanted to showcase the different places we come from and the various ethnicities that are within the club. The cuisine reflected the mixed racial and ethnic heritage of our members and guests. Everything from Filipino Lumpia and Scottish Salmon to Southern Fried Chicken and Kugel were some of the main dishes. Desserts varied from Spanish Flan to good ole American pie! Having guests bring foods from their cultures made for an interesting and delicious Potluck!
No picnic is complete without fun activities and the Potluck Picnic Committee did a great job getting everyone involved and entertained. We had great fun with a Getting to Know You game and a game identifying the best liar at our table called Two Truths and a Lie. This year there were many new faces and lots of camaraderie and fellowship.
Entertainment was provided by PebbleCreek’s own Desert Rovers, folk singers whose repertoire and skills are on par with the best folk singers out there. Their songs included many favorites that we’re all familiar with reminiscent of our youth and provided the opportunity for the rest of us to occasionally sing along with them. It was great fun and brought back memories for everyone. A perfect ending to a wonderful day!
The club would like to thank the Potluck Picnic Committee for their dedication and hard work to make this picnic a success. Members pictured, left to right, are Priscilla Narworski, Angela Cade, Jackie Smith (chairperson), Irene Manalili and Judy Hart.
