Reginald Bolding, candidate for Arizona Secretary of State, is the speaker for the May 4 PebbleCreek Democratic Club meeting, which will be held in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. The social hour starts at 6 p.m., and the meeting at 7 p.m.

Currently, Mr. Bolding is the Democratic Leader in the Arizona House of Representatives. During his seven years in the House, he has led on issues ranging from voting rights to education to criminal justice reform. While serving in the house, Reginald has been named Lawmaker of the year by several organizations, including the AFL-CIO and the National Association of Social Workers. Mr. Bolding led the advocacy charge and fought against voter suppression legislation.

In addition to serving in the legislature, Mr. Bolding is the founder of one of Arizona’s largest statewide civic and voter engagement organizations. On May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., the PC Dem Club will host the Goodyear City Council candidate forum in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse Ballroom. The event, as are all events sponsored by the PebbleCreek Democratic Club, is open to all. This is an opportunity to meet and hear candidates for Goodyear Mayor, and the three Goodyear City Council seats up for election this year. There will be a Q&A session with the audience.

The election is Aug. 2, 2022. There will be a runoff held on Nov. 8, 2022, if necessary. The candidates are:

For City Council: Benita Beckles, Wally Campbell (incumbent), Sharnai Fisher, Tamara Floyd, Vicki Gillis, Brannon Hampton (incumbent), and Atenas Rodriguez

Goodyear has a Council-Manager form of government. The city’s charter government provides for six councilmembers and a mayor, elected at large on a nonpartisan ballot. Councilmembers serve four-year staggered terms and the mayor, a four-year term. The vice mayor is elected by the rest of the city council. The mayor may serve for two terms and the council members for three terms.
