One of several PebbleCreek book clubs, the Chic-Lits, had their December meeting at the lovely Wrigley Mansion built in 1932 by chewing gum magnate, William Wrigley, Jr. First the ladies took an hour long tour of the house which included the expensive Steinway piano that Wrigley installed in his house. Built as a player piano, the ladies actually got to hear Rhapsody in Blue done by George Gershwin for the Wrigleys. Many decorative tiles can be seen throughout the house. These tiles were manufactured by a company Wrigley formed on Catalina Island. The Phoenix house was meant to be a stopping point between his homes in Chicago and Catalina Island and was given to his wife as an anniversary present. Unfortunately, William died shortly after it was built but his wife continued to use it for some time thereafter.
Following the tour, lunch was served in the restaurant.
