Who is this Charlie Kirk guy, and why would so many “senior citizens” be interested in what this young dude has to say?
On Oct. 3, the Renaissance Theater was abuzz with anticipation as PebbleCreek Republican Club members anxiously waited for Kirk’s arrival as the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA. Even they, themselves, may not have known much about him, but their concern for their children, and especially grandchildren, made this a do-not-miss event.
Turning Point USA is a national student movement dedicated to empowering young people to promote the principles of free markets and limited government. It started in 2012, focusing on reaching young people (now 3,000 high schools and colleges) with a focus to educate and also get young people registered to vote. It has “a growing army of 400,000 student activists in all 50 states and a social media following of over 80 million people.” They are spreading the message of patriotism and love of country to millions of eager students.
Charlie’s message stressed:
• Attend local school board/city council meetings
• Shop small business owners
• Sign petitions and support candidates with conservative values
• Write letters/emails or call your elected officials
• Mentor at least three young people
• Pray
The PebbleCreek Republican Club presented Turning Point USA with a $1,000 donation, along with a standing ovation, while Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” echoed throughout the theater.
