Two years ago PebbleCreek survived the “Big One” when Gary Jensen and his band of merry men and women put on one of the biggest and zaniest state parties ever. Who would have thought they could do it again? They did! They didn’t even hire a band?! Imagine if they did!
On Sunday, March 6 PebbleCreek rocked and rolled as the Big One struck again. The ballroom was jammed packed with a sold out crowd of 350 awestruck PebbleCreekers as a parade of talent dazzled and amazed.
“This is great!” one Creeker exclaimed as Mickey Mouse (Patti Wegehaupt) and Minnie Mouse (Susie Moy) mixed and mingled with the crowd, hamming it up and posing for photographs.
“Fantastic!” said another as slides of everyone’s favorite state flashed across the big screen, compliments of Mike Morgan, Gary’s friend from, you guessed it, California.
PebbleCreek’s cadre of talented singers, Kathy Mitchell, Nancy Davis, Doug Christensen, Pat Ingalls and Bart Ventura wowed the audience with their renditions of classic songs like California Dreamin and I left My Heart in San Francisco. The party goers were delighted by the crazy antics of the Magnificent Six: Don Belonax, Tony Gonzales, Dan Rea, Rich Elliot, Ted Wallace and Rich Karp as our very own Ghostbusters, the Village People and Surfer Dudes. Josh and Gillian Rabinowitz added a touch of grace and class as they waltzed in top hat and gown to the classic, I Could Have Danced All Night. And dance the crowd did to the upbeat, sensational music of the PebbleRock Band and DJ Mike Donaghu (The Music Man).
Even Melissa Kallet, the party’s M.C. and comic extraordinaire, was struck speechless as the lights dimmed and the audience was awed and delighted with Gary’s own version of the Disney Electrical Parade led by Mickey and Minnie with special guests Tinkerbell and Snow White (Crystal and Candice from the catering staff), Elsa and Ana (Frozen) (Lori Freiberg, Marsha Schneider, Audrey Morgan and Irene Gonzales) and PebbleCreek’s own clown with a big heart (Bev Bass).
A special thanks to Alex and Lynn Lucas and Carol and Dennis Moore for the amazing floats and decorations, the Tuscany Falls catering staff and to Gary and his committee, Lynn Lucas, Ed Schneider, Don Belonax, Rich Elliot and Tony Gonzales for giving us an evening of glamour, fun and fond memories.
As Creekers were leaving the party, words like “awesome, fantastic, amazing, wonderful, brilliant and terrific” were being said to describe the 2016 California State Party.
