Bunny Hop Run/Walk Brings Energy, Connection to Eagle’s Nest

John M. Shanebrook, Director, Fitness, Recreation and Wellness

Spring arrived right on cue April 4, as residents laced up their shoes and gathered for the first annual Bunny Hop Run/Walk, hosted by the Fitness, Recreation, and Wellness Department (FRW).

Set along the picturesque Robson Circle, the event offered more than just a chance to get steps in. It created a relaxed, welcoming space where neighbors could connect, share conversation, and enjoy the simple rhythm of movement together. Participants included members, guests, and even a few four-legged companions, all adding to the lighthearted, community-driven atmosphere.

The event was facilitated by FRW Department staffers Janet Stumps, Barbara McMahon, Betty Erhardt, and Red Christensen, whose thoughtful coordination and presence helped set the tone from the start. Recreation staff supported the morning with water, fresh fruit, and a festive prize drawing that kept the energy upbeat and engaging.

Two bunny-themed cakes were awarded to Annmarie Lontz and Carol Sanders, adding a fun and memorable highlight to an already spirited event.

With ideal weather and a strong turnout, the Bunny Hop Run/Walk struck a balance between wellness and community. It was not about pace or performance. It was about showing up, being active, and enjoying the company around you.

If this first year is any indication, the Bunny Hop is well on its way to becoming a signature spring tradition. It’s one that reflects what makes PebbleCreek special: an active lifestyle, a welcoming environment, and a community that shows up for one another.
