Rayma Scalzo
Have you been recently diagnosed with breast cancer? If so, you may be frightened about your future and wondering if you will be okay. It can be overwhelming and often isolating. It is for these reasons that you might want to consider attending our PebbleCreek Breast Cancer Discussion Group. It is open to women or men who are newly diagnosed, in active treatment or post treatment. It is a safe and confidential place to talk about your cancer experience and meet others learning to live a full life after a breast cancer diagnosis. We encourage long time survivors to attend our meetings too. Your experience and knowledge can help newly diagnosed members get through their treatment. You may also learn a few things along the way that you might find helpful.
We are so fortunate to have Dr. Rich Shildt, oncologist, attend our meetings. He is there to offer his support and answer any questions you may have. Our next meeting is Thursday, January 28 from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Capri Room at the Tuscany Clubhouse. Following the meeting many of us go to lunch at Toscana’s Grill and get to know each other better.
I have a special gift for you if you will be having surgery. It is a pillow that has been designed to bring comfort while recovering from surgery. The pillow is placed underneath the arm where the surgery has taken place and is held in place by a piece of elastic. This relieves the pressure on the incision. Another use for the pillow is to place it underneath the car seat belt so that there is no pressure on the breast following surgery. You do not have to attend our meetings in order to receive one.
For questions or to obtain a pillow, please call me at 623-935-1819 or email me at [email protected].
Hope to see you at our meeting!
